The Carolina Panthers addressed their defense in the third round, taking CB/S Charles Godfrey from Iowa and LB Dan Connor from Penn State.

The Panthers project Godfrey, a 6' 1", 208 lb. ball-hawk to compete at FS. Although most of his collegiate experience is at cornerback, his physical size, playing style and ball skills make him an ideal fit for the Panthers' free safety position. Click Here for more on Godfrey.

With the Connor pick, the team obviously went with their highest rated player. Connor was at one time thought of as a first-round pick, but slid down to the third. Much like the Dwayne Jarrett and Ryan Kalil picks last year, the Panthers couldn't pass up on a linebacker as talented as Connor. He has experience playing both inside and outside and could contribute on special teams early. He likely will back-up Jon Beason at middle linebacker. For more on Connor, Click Here.

The Panthers still have fifth and sixth-round picks, as well as three seventh-round picks later today. They still need to address FB, DT and possibly QB.
