The Panthers fell apart in Chicago, however Panther fans once again have to feel positively about the evolution of rookie QB Cam Newton.

The Panthers fell apart in Chicago, however Panther fans once again have to feel positively about the evolution of rookie QB Cam Newton.

Newton, who was named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month in September, finished the game completing 27 of 46 passing attempts, one touchdown pass, one interception and two rushing touchdowns.

Unlike last week, Newton was largely on target and made relatively good decisions -- except for a high pass to WR Legedu Naanee that was tipped for a interception and returned for a touchdown in the first quarter.

Carolina outgained Chicago 543 yards to 317 offensively, but it was all for naught as the Special Teams unit failed in every phase of the game, allowing a kickoff return for a touchdown and a blocked field goal attempt.

The Panthers defense gave up a huge rushing day from Bears RB Matt Forte, allowing 205 yards on the ground. Bears QB Jay Cutler didn't have impressive stats, completing just 9-of-17 passes one interception, however the huge success of the running game made that point moot.

Newton was simply amazing at times, defying the Bears pass rush, scrambling to keep plays alive and then rifling passes or running for a big gain.

Each week, Newton continues to improve and impress. Even though the Panthers are 1-3, they've been in all four games. Now that the Panthers have found their franchise QB, they can shift focus to figuring out how to score in the red zone and stop the run defensively.
