“I love to go across the middle and I love to block, in high school I had to block there and in college I had to block as well because we ran the football so much. I pride myself on my blocking skills and my willingness to go across the middle to catch the ball and get the first down,” said Layton.

WR Andrew Layton of Appalachian State University is a player who bring maturity, and leadership. He has fearless hustle, excellent work ethic and ability not only as a wide receiver but also as a special teams star.

“I think my big asset is that I can play special teams, I willing to do whatever it takes to win. I played on all the special team groups and I don’t think you will find many player in college who love to play special teams as much as I do,” said Layton.

Layton last season started all 12 games and lead the Mountaineers in receiving with 36 catches for 424 yards and 3 touchdowns. He has good size being 6-0 1/2 190 pounds and having the ability to run a 4.56 40, with a 37.5’’ vertical jump and is strong doing 18X of 225 and also squatting over 600 pounds and clean lifting 370 pounds.

“I love to go across the middle and I love to block, in high school I had to block there and in college I had to block as well because we ran the football so much. I pride myself on my blocking skills and my willingness to go across the middle to catch the ball and get the first down,” said Layton.

The coaches compare Layton’s work ethic to that of future Hall of Famer Jerry Rice, and people compare his strength to that of Terrell Owens of the 49ers.

Layton is a complete receiver and has the ability to be both a deep threat and a possession wide receiver and does a very good job running routes.

“My favorite routes to run are the post route and the corner route because on those routes you have the ability to turn defensive backs around. I enjoy running my routes so well that I make the defensive backs turn around and then I’m open big time,” said Layton.

The NFL teams that have scouted Layton are the Carolina Panthers, Seattle Seahawks, Pittsburgh Steelers, Jacksonville Jaguars, Miami Dolphins, and Indianapolis Colts.
